INTO MAY

And so into the garden to get those jobs done and as usual make changes! Every year when we go out into the garden we look at it with fresh eyes! The winters passed and we've moved on and where something was and seemed fine , is now not or we've seen that we could change that place or area for the better.

One of the things we've done this weekend, being a bank holiday so giving us that extra day, has been to clean off our large patio, realise that we really need to sort out about getting it replaced. It was here when we arrived and is the same colours , red and yellow, as we laid down in our first house back in the late 70's ! So it's been down a far time and apart from being old it's also starting to crack and in some places sink down. So that's quite  big job that will need to be tackled over the next year or so.

We'd placed some bamboo in pots to one side of the patio but they were looking the worse for wear after the winter, so decided that they would be better in the garden, so Paul removed two fo them from the pots and placed them at each end of his tropical plant area.

The tropical area is growing well , the tender red banana's are still in the greenhouse until all chance of frost is past but everything is growing nicely and appears to have survived the winter.

The Jacobs Ladder is in flower and the Rhododendron's and Azalea's are in bud and should start flowering soon.

this large one is already starting to flower.

The area right up in the back corner is starting to grow.

This raised woodland area is in full leaf.

In the flower garden the tree peony is starting to flower , two of the three buds opening.

It's getting quite tall now and these buds are large.

The damp area is slowly filling up.

We purchased a couple of standards to go either side of the Lych Gate.

In the front garden this beautiful purple lilac is flowering.

Along with this double white lilac

Beautiful large blooms.

Under the front window is thriving.

The new infilled porch has left this paved raised area where we are going to put some pots of Hosta's

The front door with new step and plants.

  2. It's all looking very healthy Dee, the peonies and the lilacs are beautiful. My mum used to have a lot of peonies in her garden years ago, but I don't recall them being there now, I'll have to ask her.
I think you'll have enough work to fill all your coming weekends, but it'll be wonderful to finally sit down at one of the seating areas and enjoy it when it's all done.
