BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND

And it's so far dry! Which means a trip to a couple of garden centre's and a purchase or ten !

So Saturday we went to see what was on offer in the Alpine range, unfortunately we left it too late for a very nice nursery that sells unusual plants and it was already closed by 1 pm!  So we'll be saving that trip for an other weekend.

But we did go to a couple of standard garden centres and of course bought two unplanned plants.

One was this orange azalea called Sunny Boy! Yes it's orange! but it was Paul's choice so I had to agree....

Since it's going to be down the end of the garden, hopefully it won't be too in your face!

My choice was this sweet pink azalea with small flowers.

This one is called Homebush.

Definitely a clash of colours! but we had just the places for them.

Sunny Boy's gone in , in front of the yellow azalea and the white rhododendron which as a yellow marking and is filling the space nicely.

working well together.

The pink's gone in further round and in front and between the red and the deep pink rhododendron's.

We'll need to keep an eye on this azalea to make sure it does not get swamped by the rhodo's .

So this section of the garden is slowly turning into a rhododendron and azalea bed!

    1. They are indeed a gorgeous couple of plants which hopefully will grow and fill in with the others.

  2. Loving how they fit in well with their neighbours colours!
Ah-hem! I thought that I was led to believe that this is the house's turn this year and NOT the garden!!! Guess you can blame it on a dry and sunny Bank Holiday Weekend for a change!

    1. Yes they should make a nice display next year.
It is the year of the house but Paul keeps wandering out into the garden and doing things!

  3. Beautiful choices Dee and although I know you cannot stand orange, this is a natural flower orange so maybe that's more acceptable? Rather than orange fabric for example, which can look dreadful! Having said that, I have some very nice orange and white fabric here, but I promise I won't make you a dolly dress from it! ;)

    1. Thanks Sharon, I don't mind orange in the garden if there are some other colours nearby to help calm it down.Orange in small doses is fine...maybe ! Lol

  4. As always, St.Ip's best kept garden has me trying not to be envious. We spend lots of time on the veggie gardens, to the detriment of the flower garden. So I'll just stare at yours and pretend I'm standing looking at ours!
Seriously, Dee, the sheer variety of areas in your garden is very impressive. You and Paul work so hard on it all, and it really shows.

    1. You are too kind and in truth it needs a good sort out of things , that need throwing out etc.
I have to say that Paul does the lions share of the work , I only do a little now and then and boss about where things can go ! I'm more the planner and designer :)
