BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND

And it's so far dry! Which means a trip to a couple of garden centre's and a purchase or ten !

So Saturday we went to see what was on offer in the Alpine range, unfortunately we left it too late for a very nice nursery that sells unusual plants and it was already closed by 1 pm!  So we'll be saving that trip for an other weekend.

But we did go to a couple of standard garden centres and of course bought two unplanned plants.

One was this orange azalea called Sunny Boy! Yes it's orange! but it was Paul's choice so I had to agree....

Since it's going to be down the end of the garden, hopefully it won't be too in your face!

My choice was this sweet pink azalea with small flowers.

This one is called Homebush.

Definitely a clash of colours! but we had just the places for them.

Sunny Boy's gone in , in front of the yellow azalea and the white rhododendron which as a yellow marking and is filling the space nicely.

working well together.

The pink's gone in further round and in front and between the red and the deep pink rhododendron's.

We'll need to keep an eye on this azalea to make sure it does not get swamped by the rhodo's .

So this section of the garden is slowly turning into a rhododendron and azalea bed!

A VISIT TO KEW GARDENS part four

At the far end of the rock garden is the Davies Alpine House.
Inside are rare and unusual alpine plants in the arch shaped glasshouse, designed to recreate the cool, dry, windy conditions these plants favour. We just loved everything about this glasshouse.

A view from the side.

Peeking in from the rock garden waterfall area.

Viewed from outside.

We loved this alpine house.

Sweet pots of beautiful flowers.

Looking through .

We loved the Alpine house and have decided we will keep a few pots in our greenhouse and see what happens.

The info for this glasshouse.

A little group of stone troughs outside the far end of the Glasshouse.
