This Rose, Pink Perpetude flowers wonderfully all summer but does not like rain, it spoils the blooms , Neptune however loves to feel the water on his face !

The Roses are going great this year and putting on a wonderful display of style and colour.

  1. Another wonderful look round St Ipps Towers' Gardens! Beauiful as always, dee. ongratulations to you and to Paul. It seems the rain last week didn't do too much damage.
It's our turn now - rain in torrents for two days - so the peonies are piles of petals on the ground and the water lilies I want to plant up are languishing in a bucket! (Holiday somewhere else this year - I think we in Wales had our summer 2016 last week!)

    1. Thanks Jenni, the rain here just encourages everything to grow including the weeds! We cannot seem to get our Peony's to flower more than once very other year! :)

  2. I've never seen rose flower of 'Geoff Hamilton'. It looks so beautiful.
I've been translating Geoff Hamilton's book 'The Ornamental Kitchen Garden' in Japanese since September 2014, and almost finished. Now I want to plant it in our garden.

    1. It's a shrub rose by David Austin, we have had it for many years, always flowers well.
We used to watch Geoff Hamilton on gardener's world in his garden at Barnsdale.

  3. Like the front your back garden's 'Blooming wonderfully.'
I'm hoping to add an extra 30-40cms or so of trellis to my 180cms wooden fences this year so then will be looking at finding trailers/climbers etc to grow up and through it to give/provide me with a little more privacy.
I adore your Wisteria but feel that it might be more than I can cope with having one at my late parents bungalow.
Thinking more of chosing an evergreen Clematis or two instead as the Ivys are rather slower growing.
A couple of years ago Chon gave me some dwarf peach Foxglove seeds and they are looking really lovely this year.
I might even venture into buying a few Iris plants on my next garden centre visit.

    1. Sounds like a plan Kendal , No I would not recommend Wisteria as it needs cutting back twice a year to encourage the flowering. An evergreen Clematis Montana would be a good choice, comes in white or pink and will grow along a fence top for about 40 ft getting masses of flowers when mature and looking a wonderful sight.
I love the Foxgloves and Paul says don't buy any Iris's he's got some you can have , a lovely pale blue.
